Swag. No other way to describe it. Most song that make the billboard have some level of it...whether it's your vibe or not. This is one of those songs that epitomizes it for me.  Had to just let this rock a lil before I walk in to the job… bout to do my thing today...and they never saw it coming:-)

“I cut off all my distractions… and started attacking” - Big Sean

“Put your lighters up.“ - Kiah

That pretty much sums up the song. I can listen to this track ALL the time..and vibe.  This will get me through the day. Running like crazy but still on cruise control you know? No? Then… Press Play

Can I also just say… I'm very picky with poetry blended with R&B and Rap...while short, she nailed it.  Check her album out entitled “Memo” for more.

Calvin Harris - Feels Ft. Pharrell, Big Sean and Katy Perry

calvin-harris-feels-video-1100.jpg

Sigh. Every now and then there is a song that is too good. I said it. TOO GOOD. So good it goes OVER the head of mainstream. But PROPS, (insert irregular 3rd person rant here) this video has over 446 million views. What are you talking about? Then why do I keep putting people on to this song?!?!? Probably the same reason why I got put on to this song (shout out to DJ G$Money).

This song...came out a minute ago…but the vibe is timeless to me. Calvin Harris nailed the sound with a perfect blend of artists. It's pretty criminal how good this song is. So until somebody posts bail...press play.

*okay, that was pretty corny...hate me later

Nina Simone: Don't let me be misunderstood

I love this song for so many reasons. Primarily because Nina Simone is arguably one of the mothers' of soul and my Mom Loves Nina Simone.

"If I seem edgy
I want you to know
I never mean to take it out on you
Life has its problems
And I get more than my share
But that's one thing I never mean to do

Cause I love you
Oh baby
I'm just human
Don't you know I have faults like anyone?"

Growing up made me realize how amazing my mother is.  Calm under pressure, resiliency, and determination with conviction among other things...I all got those skills from her.  I could amount to a third of who she is I'd consider myself a success. I remember hearing Nina through different times of my life.  So it seems fitting to share one.  Happy mothers day.

Nina Simone ~ Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood (with Lyrics)

DEPECHE MODE: People are People

"So we're different colors
And we're different creeds
And different people have different needs
It's obvious you hate me
Though I've done nothing wrong
I've never even met you so what could I have done"

The best music stands the test of time.  BUT, great music is made in times of great pressure.  Who's willing to step out and speak their mind?  Depeche Mode has NEVER had that problem.  Their sound and lyrics often finds a piece of your souls and touches your core because...they're expressing exactly how you feel.

Another great choice by Nerissa.. thanks for sharing your mood.  I needed this song today after work!

The Underachievers: Star Signs / GENERATION Z

I'm not even gonna hold you, I like to like music. But if you know me, you know it's hard for me to become a fan.  That...you have to earn.  One album in (that I've heard) and I've been genuinely interested in The Underachievers.

"Raised up deep in the beast
Had a first hand see to the war in the streets
Rely on gripping the heat
And they multiply by getting them kids
That's why I'm speaking for peace
Cause niggas be dying over the beef
But please don't fuck with the gods
You gon' be surprised by what you gon' get"

Today I felt likea bit...unnerved.  Like I'm being underestimated or taken for granted.  That only makes me become greater so I welcome that.  I say all that cause I came in ready to post "Generation Z" but came across a video compilation with "Star signs" so I figured...what the hell, I like em both!  Check these brother out ya'll...you won't be disappointed.

Nas: You know my style #TBT

This double album got so much rotation on my day to day playlist.  Love this album!...okay okay, lemme settle down. Street's Disciple is one of those under rated Nas albums that I argue often was one of his best.  The whole mood on the album gave off a feel of royalty...this track was no different.

"Don't talk, just hold your breath
Been here a while, s'only one nigga left
And all'a y'all know my style
I spend dough but I still let it pile" -Nas

I listen to this song and feel like I can handle whatever comes my way.  I hope that makes you feel that way today...Enjoy Ya'll
